Day 1 | Welcome to Athens

Begin an unforgettable journey through a land rich in ancient legends, myths and goddesses. Your entry point to this enchanting vacations is the lively city of Athens, a seamless blend of historical wonders and modern verve, which you will get the chance to discover after being taken to your hotel. This evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow travelers for a light meal.

Day 2 | Explore Amazing Athens

Join your Local Specialist for a guided morning sightseeing tour to the ancient site that was once known as the ‘Cradle of Western Civilisation.’ As we journey through history, we’ll have the chance to discover the Acropolis along with its treasures and take in the beauty of the Parthenon, which is dedicated to the goddess Athena, the Royal Palace, and the Temple of Zeus. Immerse yourself in culture and experience remarkable exhibits of an ancient civilization during a visit to the Acropolis Museum, and gaze upon Hadrian’s Arch and the venue where the inaugural modern Olympics were held in 1896. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Wander through the Plaka, enjoy some people-watching in Syntagma Square, or hunt for the city’s most delicious souvlaki – the choice is completely up to you.

Day 3 | Journey to Corinth, Mycenae and Nafplion

We depart Athens this morning, traversing the impressive Corinth Canal to reach the untamed Peloponnesian Peninsula. Upon arriving in Corinth, we will meet a Local Specialist to discover an ancient city that has been contested by numerous empires over the years. Our journey continues to Mycenae, a powerful realm of Ancient Greece, where we will explore the Beehive Tombs (the Treasury of Atreus), the Lion Gate, and the remnants of Agamemnon’s Royal Palace, accompanied by a Local Specialist. Following that, we will head to Epidaurus to tour the ancient theater and observe the Sanctuary of Asclepius, the God of Medicine, whose staff entwined with snakes is still recognized as a symbol of medicine today. Later, we’ll arrive in the Venetian town of Nafplio, where we will enjoy dinner at our hotel this evening.

Day 4 | Continue to Ancient Olympia

We journey through the Arcadian Mountains to reach the historic Olympia, where the inaugural Olympic Games took place in 776 BC. Tonight, we will share a meal with the Karabelas family on their olive and wine farm during a Be My Guest experience that includes traditional dancing and the warm Greek hospitality known as philoxenia.

Day 5 | Onwards to Patras and Delphi

This morning, we will meet with a Local Specialist to explore centuries of history. We will tour the ancient Olympic site, the museum, and the ruins of the Temples of Zeus and Hera. After departing from Olympia, we will follow the coastline north to Patras, crossing the Gulf of Corinth to reach mainland Greece before proceeding to Delphi, where you might want to participate in an interactive cooking lesson to try your hand at making some local dishes.

Day 6 | Off to Thermopylae and Kalambaka

Tread in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks, who would descend on the sanctuary of Delphi to consult with the most important oracle in the classical world. Join your Local Specialist and walk the Sacred Way to the 4 -century Temple of Apollo. View the statues immortalising the strength of the athletes who once competed in the Pythian Games, held in honour of Apollo and the Arts. Continue on to a family-ran honey farm for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. Taste the rich thyme honey freshly collected from the hive and come up close to the unique biodiversity of the area. A scenic afternoon drive brings us to Thermopylae, famous for the heroic defence by Leonidas and his brave Spartans against the invading Persians. We cross the lush Thessaly region, travelling north through the ‘breadbasket of Greece’ towards Kalambaka.

Day 7 | Admire Meteora and Return to Athens

Our first destination for today is the Meteora monasteries, which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Visit two of the six Eastern Orthodox monasteries that still exist with a local expert. Impressively, the town is surrounded by massive, rounded rock towers. After a beautiful drive back to Athens, we’ll have a heartfelt farewell dinner with our fellow travelers and reflect on an amazing trip across Greece.

Day 8 | Farewell Athens

We say a fond farewell to our newfound friends and the treasures of Greece after an unforgettable journey.
